Macromedia Inc. in June added Mac support to its public beta version of Flash Generator, the company's server-based software for generating data-driven Web graphics and animation.

The company said Power Mac-based users of its Flash authoring tool can now design Flash Generator templates, which are linked to data files and served by the software. Users can incorporate live text and graphical data to create dynamically updating headlines, mastheads and advertisements in the Flash format.

The free beta, which also supports JPEG and Portable Network Graphics output, is available for download at http://www.flash.com/generator.

The final version of Flash Generator will be available later this summer, Macromedia said.
